Shayn Roby’s Take: So many people have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior because of Chuck Smith’s dedication to the application and teaching of God’s Word. Many also came to know the Lord because of Chuck’s propensity for grace for those who had fallen short of God’s glory. He was patient and applied grace whenever possible to remedy for occasional relapses into sin by church members. His love for people through the grace of Jesus will be sorely missed in Orange County, throughout California, and the United States of America.
“Rarely does a man come along that impacts a generation, but Chuck Smith was that man. He certainly impacted my life,” Laurie writes.
Smith began pastoring at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, Calif., in 1965 and was known for his less formal and contemporary approach to worship and church services. His ministry continued to grow until his death.
