Help! We need a translator for this Common Core ‘math’ problem

Shayn Roby’s Take:  Supposedly, “research based” Common Core curriculum is taking the very simple, and making it so that even the most educated have trouble understanding basic concepts using their poorly planned pedagogy. Numerous other examples of pedagogical incompetence have been documented recently.  One third grade problem posted by a distraught mother at MomDot.com is an example of the unnecessary complexity in the teaching of elementary math concepts being set forth by so-called educational experts.
