Osceola Swifter than War Eagle, Just Barely

Shayn Roby’s Take: It’s only fitting that Florida State’s shirts would have the score backwards, because that game was so near to being a loss that anyone could make the mistake.

Final 2013 Regular Season FBS Roby Ratings

Shayn Roby’s Take: It will be much tougher for Florida State to beat Auburn than it was to beat Duke in the ACC Championship Game. Expect the War Eagle chant after the eighth consecutive BCS Championship Crystal Bowl trophy is awarded to a team from the Southeastern Conference.

FBS Opponent Breakdown—-Fla. St./ Alabama/ Ohio St.

Shayn Roby’s Take: Statistically at least, Florida State has performed the best against its competition, with a score of 117.5. Alabama has performed second best with a score of 98.6. Ohio State ranks third among the unbeatens with a score of 93.1.  Northern Illinois and Fresno State are both unbeaten, but the quality of the competition they have faced doesn’t warrant their appearance in the national championship game.  They both deserve to compete in a BCS bowl however.

College Football FBS Results Week 12

Shayn Roby’s Take: Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, and Baylor were all victorious, while Stanford was upset by USC.  Auburn kept its slim national title hopes alive with a miracle 4th and 17 conversion with seconds left that turned into a tip drill touchdown for the War Eagles.

2013 Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl Predictions

On January 1st, the first two BCS Bowls will be held.  First, in the Rose Bowl, Pac-12 Champion Stanford will host unlikely Big 10 Champion Wisconsin, a team with FIVE losses.

Wisconsin (8-5)  Roby’s Rating:  15.30

Stanford (11-2)     Roby’s Rating   13.13

This one could actually get ugly if Wisconsin’s offense were to have a day like they did against Nebraska in the Big 10 title game, where they posted a big 70 points on the Husker D.  Still, a close game is more likely.

Wisconsin Badgers by 3

Later in that evening,  the ACC Champion Florida State Seminoles will host the BCS buster Northern Illinois Huskies, who hail from the Mid-America Conference.  This game may be much closer than the average fan would anticipate.  Careful analysis of victories by defeated opponents reveals that the Huskies’ losing opposition won 58 games, while the Seminoles’ defeated foes only won 54 games.  This factor, coupled with a healthy dose of  “wanting to prove we belong” could be the right recipe for an upset.  If Huskie Heisman candidate Jordan Lynch, who broke the NCAA record for most 100-yard rushing games by a quarterback with seven in November gets on a tear,  can you say Boise St. vs. Oklahoma anyone?
