Minor League Team Faked Rejected Marriage Proposal. A baseball fan is embarrassed after publicly proposing to his girlfriend during a New Britain Rock Cats minor league game in Connecticut last week. David asks his girlfriend Jessica to marry him on one knee. The announcer incongruously announces that Jessica ‘looks excited’ before she says ‘David, I’m sorry, I can’t’ and runs out of the stadium. The Double-A Rock Cats, an affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, issued a statement Wednesday acknowledging the club staged the event with two employees standing in for the unhappy couple.

The Atlanta Braves beat the Washington Nationals 2-1 as Julio Teheran hurled six solid frames, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out four Nationals to earn his ninth win. Evan Gattis knocked in the go-ahead run with a single to right, giving the Braves a 2-1 lead over the Nationals in the fifth inning, and that turned out to be the final score: Braves 2 Nationals 1.
