Shayn Roby’s Take: Wichita State is undefeated. They are not unbeatable, but they have that intangible something that makes the difference between winning and losing when the chips are down. Don’t look for the first sixteen seed victory over a one seed to occur to the Shockers at the hands of Cal Poly.

Belmont Bruins 83 North Carolina Tar Heels 80
Shayn Roby’s Take: As someone who remembers the days when Rick Byrd’s Belmont Bruins played in the Tennessee Collegiate Athletic Association against the Bethel Wildcats and Trevecca Trojans (schools both attended by the editor), the editor of ShaynRoby.com feels a bit of delight in seeing the success of Belmont’s program. Today’s 83-80 win over the North Carolina Tar Heels is a day of pride for the mid-major conferences, and for those schools that desire to move from lower division NCAA classifications or the NAIA. Today’s game is a reminder that success is attainable if the commitment to excellence does not waiver. In the case of Belmont Coach Rick Byrd, a commitment to excellence is what he has always embodied.
The Belmont Bruins logged a huge victory for their program with an 83-80 victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Hall of Fame Tipoff.
