Montel Williams “Tolerance” Not Scriptural

As of late, it has been the trend among some evangelical mega-churches and political conservatives to tip toe around the issue of same gender sexual relationships with a sinful “tolerance” in order to avoid offending members of the LGBTQ community.   Recently, television personality Montel Williams chastised conservatives for discriminating against this group, saying that the book of Galatians warns against this in verses twenty six through twenty eight of the third chapter of the Apostle Paul’s letter to the church in Galatia.

²⁶ So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, ²⁷ for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

The problem with this quotation of scripture is that it doesn’t address the issue of sexual sin.  Sexual activity outside of marriage is not acceptable to engage in.  It is sin.  Scripture from the books of Leviticus and Romans makes it crystal clear that same gender sexual activity is an abomination in the sight of the Lord, and that continual engagement in such activity will result in one being left by the Spirit of the Lord to his or her own depraved mind.  In order to draw closer to God, one must follow the directives of the Holy Spirit.  It is only a matter of time before one engaging in homosexual practices who claims to be a follower of The Original Light:  The Great I Am and a lover of the commands and ways of our Lord Jesus will be confronted with this violation of God’s Law by the Holy Spirit.  Failure to comply with a directive given by the Holy Spirit eventually does result in a falling away from the face and grace of The Original Light:  The Great I Am.

Recent verbal attacks on Phil Robertson have taken place from GLAAD, Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and other groups bent on causing civil unrest, unpalatable discourse, and general chaos.  Anyone who takes the time to listen to the Duck Commander’s message given at Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church in Southern California this last July would realize that Jesse Jackson’s complaint is invalid and baseless.  Mr. Robertson is the farthest thing from a racist.  As usual, Jesse, like his counterpart Al Sharpton, is searching for something incendiary so that he can remain in the public eye.  It’s not that Phil Robertson is racially insensitive, it’s that Jesse Jackson needs turmoil so that he feels relevant in his own mind.

Transgender Teen Nominated for Homecoming Queen

Shayn Roby’s Take: The fact that someone would nominate a transgender for homecoming queen is disgusting, but not surprising for California. An airplane trip to Los Angeles is not called the “fruit and nut” flight as a result of little cause for the characterization.

The Book of Jeremiah in God’s Holy Word tells us:

Before you were born I set you apart
and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”

Changing one’s gender from the one assigned by God Almighty is the ultimate in defiance.  It is a statement to God that He made a mistake.  God doesn’t make mistakes.

The Decline of the Lutheran Church not a Denominational Trend, but of the Entire Christian Church

Robert Benne, in his article at the website JuicyEcumenism.com titled Lutheran Exceptionalism—–from Hope to Decline wrote, “Increasingly the theology of Protestant liberalism crept in in three key areas—the nature of salvation itself; the decisiveness and uniqueness of Christ as Savior; and the familiar sexuality issues.    One need do nothing to be saved, for God loves you unconditionally, just as you are, by virtue of your creation. ”  In a 2008 Christmas message, Archbishop of Southern Africa Thabo Makgoba infamously declared that “Jesus is like a ‘bucketful of God'” — a statement seemingly at odds with church teaching about Christ being the exact imprint of God’s character in whom “the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily.”  The creep of cultural relativism has infiltrated the Church to the point that philosophies from other religions that are not rooted in the Truth of the Word of Jesus, Jehovah, and the Holy Spirit are given equal footing by members of the congregation and sometimes even the pastors.  Increasingly, the Christian Church as an entire body has been facing the same issue.   Recently, retired South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu has provocatively declared that he would not worship a God who is homophobic, adding that “I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven… I mean, I would much rather go to the other place [hell].”  Regardless of what Bishop Tutu believes, members of the body, nor their spiritual leaders can legislate the morality of God.  His Holy Word remains the expected standard for righteousness, regardless of how many liberals have infiltrated a particular congregation.  Truth remains to be truth.  Homosexuality will continue to be a sin, regardless of how many rainbow waving parade marchers and females with butch haircuts are inside the church building.  The number of bumperstickers with Tweety bird or Betty Boop on them in the church parking lot will not change what Romans 1: 24-32 says.   Some clergy have called out the wayward Tutu in his rebellion against God’s Word,

Archbishop Yinkah Sarfo of Ghana — strongly condemned Tutu over his comments.”Archbishop Tutu is respected in the Anglican Church and around the world but this time he has misfired and all Anglican Bishops from Africa, Asia and South America condemn his statement in no uncertain terms,” Sarfo told Ghana’s Adom News.”  Even though Tutu and many people who are in same sex relationships are in defiance of God’s will, the body of Christ is still expected to extend the message of Jesus’s love to everyone, with kindness and empathy.  Sometimes, hurt feelings are inevitable, because some individuals refuse the Truth of the Lord when it is presented to them, and prefer their sin over repentance.  Oftentimes, they will mend their ways in due time at the prompting of the Holy Spirit.  Plants do not appear at the instant that seeds are planted.  It is the responsibility of every believer to plant seed, nurture sprouts, and continue the watering of full grown plants as we submit to the will of the “Almighty I Am”.
